The Macon Giants will not host a team this season….

The Highly competitive Macon Giants coached by Jay Cranford were in the Premier Prospect League All Star game. It was held in Atlanta Ga. on June 30th.  Seven Macon Giants players were chosen to participate on theTeam. “We sent up some real good talent,”  explains Coach Jay … Steve Taylor , Ridge Brown , David Weber, Matthew Powell and Eli McDaniel were among the top talent sent in and they ended up making a big difference in the game. Our team won 4-2. As the talent pool continues to grow in Ga. we are now joining Roger Wilkerson and the New The Middle Georgia Collegiate Summer League will soon be one of the top wood bat summer collegiate baseball leagues in the S.E. and possibly the country.”

Recognizing a void and a great number of talented players, the League  (MGCSL) offers college level competition with the intent to help players keep skills optimized, while offering professional exposure that is unmatched anywhere else in the country!

The idea is to give these players a quality arena to compete with others in their age groups from across the USA. Over 20 different colleges will be represented . Players will get in 22-25 games depending upon weather. Rosters will be kept to around 25 players.

We will get in maximum playing time while not overworking players in a long grueling season. Pitchers will be on strict 85 pitch counts so not to be overworked. Relievers will not throw 3 consecutive days. Back to Back relief appearances will only occur if only 1 inning was thrown by that particular reliever the day before. We are here to provide an arena to compete not to kill players trying to win championships in a summer league. The league is only 5 weeks long to allow players some time off before reporting back to campus for the fall. There will be no weekend games so that players can have some free time. We will have access to a  training facility in Macon. We want each player to be placed in an arena to improve their games as well as compete against top tier competition. We feel like the Southeast especially Georgia and the Carolina’s is in need of a venue for younger college players and incoming freshmen. This is going to be a terrific stage for these young players to sharpen their skills in a short season environment. Their will be live statistics, web site, league All-Star game and player profiles available during the season.
